Purchasing Black Starboard

I'm going to be purchasing some black starboard, 3/8" thick from Farco Supply this week. It only comes in 54"x96" lengths, so I will only be using approx. half of the sheet for my tank, if anyone wants the other half let me know. The cost of the entire sheet is $140.00, I'll split it with someone if they want. Either way I'm going to be getting a full sheet, just thought I would offer it up...

Okay, I'll let you know this weekend. I'm going to pick it up on Wednesday, and I can cut it for you if you need me too also.

That would be great, I should be picking up the acrylic for the project this week to so I will be able to give you exact measurements. Hopefully someone will snag the whole half from you though....... I know haveing pieces of it in the garage extra wouldbe to much temptation for me to start a new tank:)

I hear ya! :)

Do you think 3/8" would be thick enough or should I go thicker? I'm wanting to go BB, but I don't want an accidental rock shift, so go crashing down and it not be enough...

The only reason your using it is to avoid breaking the bottom right? If yes I would imagine it will be more than enough. Tank bottoms are usually tempered, I have hit temepered glass car windows with a sledghammer and had it bounce of, take a small icepic and tap the window somewhat lightly and it will crumble no problem. Sharp points break it more than a distubited weight will. Ive never used it for a tank bottom, but would imagine even 1/4 would work to stop sharp rocks from breaking it. I will be using it for a different project, kind of a diy nano cube and have never really looked into useing it for a bottom. FYI you may check with piedmont plastics in daytona, Im not sure but I think they may sell half sheets.
