Purigen turned pink

i have a 120 total gallon system and i have been having a problem with nitrates. i ordered Vertex bio pellets that should be here on friday, to help build some more bacteria to eat the nitrates up. while i was waiting till friday, i got some purigen to use to maybe help do a little bit with my water. i used the reccomended amount for my system at 9 PM EST. when i woke up (9AM EST), it was a pinkish red color. what does this mean? i know it will change a brownish color when it needs to be re activated but i havent heard anything about a pink color. what do i do? is it bad media? any help is great. thank you

Here and there on other boards there's some mention of Purigen going pinkish in high nitrates.

Yes usually when you have high nitrates purigen can turn pink, you may be able to regenerate it in a bleach/RO solution.
