any problems with feeding, aggressiveness, etc.

Common Name: Amethyst / Sailfin / Purple Queen Anthias

Species Name: Pseudanthias pascalus (Jordan & Tanaka, 1927)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Indonesia, and Taiwan north to Japan and south to Great Barrier Reef

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Size: up to 6 inches (15 cm)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Natural Environment: Inhabit reef faces and slopes/drop-off areas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 72 - 80F (22 - 27C). Difficult to maintain. Best kept in small groups consisting of one male and four or more females. Require exceptional water quality, good water movement and numerous feedings per day. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh.

This spiece is hard to keep and better left in nature.

No these aren't the purple Queens. The common name is purple anthia or yellow stripe anthia.

they are purple with a gold or yellow stripe along the top of their body.

Their in the scott michael book but I can't get to it right now

I've had a couple of tukas for 2 and a half months - they seem to be doing ok - but 2.5 mo. isn't very long

One of them refuses to eat anything but live food & the other one relies heavily on it also. I'm sure that is the reason it is gaining weight

I've heard people say that even if you can get them to eat they seem to slowly waste away - I tend to agree that this is what would be happening if I had not turned my upstairs wet bar into an artemia factory. I have a constant supply of live baby brine for them. I had planned on weaning them off of it - but if that's going to happen, it won't be any time soon

I got some advice from someone who raised them for 10 mo. & he said to feed them like 5 or more times a day (frozen) - I still only feed mine twice a day - but I think the live food makes the difference beause it floats in the tank for an hour or so before it's all eaten up - also there's not that much competition from the other fish for such small particles of food

HTH :)

bad choice, next to impossible. very very few ever kept them longer than 1 month.
I tryed 5 in my 500g all dead in 1 month.
