ISLAND REEF

Need some help, we have a large purple carpet that we have had for 7 mths in our 300 reef, it is doing wonderful, we are selling our reef and down grading to a 46 bow front reef, the 2 questions that i have are 1 are they real sensitive to temp change? our 300 is 79-80 where the 46 is around 83-84, 2nd question we have t5s on the 300, the 46 has power compacts do you all think this is dooable? any body know how rare a purple carpet is?

What type of "carpet" ?

What else are you planning on keeping in the 46?
Why is the 46 so much warmer? That temp isn't too bad, but leaves you very little wiggle room.
How many PCs? What wattage? What color temps?

plan on keeping some of my wifes favorite corals from the 300 mainly softies and a few lps, the 300 has 2 chillers on it (1 as a back up) the pc are 2 96watt
1 attinic and on 5600k day. as far as type not sure,i tried to add a picture but its too big and not sure how to resize it
thanks

Any fish ?

That is really going to be pushing it for light -- would suggest switching to 2 5600K bulbs, and even then it might not be enough -- but really need to know what type of carpet.

I wish i knew it was sold to us from the lfs as a rare purple carpet as far as fish a few small fish (hawk fish, cromis maybe a small pink skunk clown) thats about all. do you think the amount of fish and corals will impact the carpet?

You can try uploading the photo to photobucket -- it is free -- and then posting the link here.

Depending on the species, I would be more worried about the fish getting eaten.

its quite large its hard to tell being in the 300 gallon. Im thinking i would be smart to not try it in that small of a tank

I have kept a green Haddoni in a 46 gallon under same lights for 3 years, until one of my kids crashed my tank.
