Purple Dottyback White Blotches

Dear Members,
I am very new to this hobby. Currently I am having tank of 50gallon. There are two clown fish, 1 azure damsel. Some button polyps are there. I introduced purple dottyback a week back . It was healthy eating well. Then last weekend, I changed water, cleaned up skimmer and filter. Suddenly 12 hours after water change I see white spots on the dottyback and it was hiding. Next day it died

Ammonia = almost 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 10 ppm

My first Orchid Dottyback developed similar spots a few days after going into quarantine. As antibiotics are hard to get in Australia I tried other treatments for a few weeks but it passed away as well. As a result I now have a store of Metroplex and Kanaplex on hand in case I have similar issues. My strongest theory was abrasions or cuts either before I put it into QT or on the rock I had in the QT (which I have now removed and won't use again), that developed into ulcers. That's a guess however.

So far I haven't had to use the medications and the replacement Dottyback went in and out of QT just fine. They have a 3 year shelf life so are worth having on hand.

Ah. Felt bad . \I did check this with my LFS. They told either cut or could be because of slight ammonia in my water. Do you think it could be because of slight ammonia ? . Currently working hard to bring it down to zero and make it stable. By the way my ph was 7.5 and kh was 5. They asked me to bump up KH.

I don't think that elevated Ammonia levels would be a cause, but it won't help as it is just another stress for the fish to deal with. We are trying to put the fish into the least stressful situation we can so that it can devote all it's energy to dealing with the injury and/or infection.

When I treated mine I also used Voogle, which is an immune system booster, and unless I hear any feedback to the contrary from the experts in this forum who have far, far more experience than I do, will use it in future whenever I have to treat any fish as a supplementary action.
