purple firefish multiples?

Can they be kept in multiples in a 280g tank if they are added together?

Yep, I have 4 in my 150gal. Two (sometimes 3) hang out together front and centre but the fourth is usually over to one side away from the others.

Had them for a few months now and none seem to bother each other or anything else in the tank.

This isn't exactly the same but I will share, I added 4 red firefish and 1 Helfrichi firefish to my 150 about 1.5 years ago. The reds slowly dwindled down to 1 and now him and my Helfrichi are best friends. Always together and never fighting

Success with multiples can only be assessed after about 6 months. Normally, unless you get a bonded pair, it will not work.

We have had two helfrichis since 2/2013. They were purchased as a pair, although I do not believe this is the case. They coexist in our 210g.
