Purple firefish with clear parasite

Thanks for the help Tom. Here are some other angles, but hard to get a good shot of it.

it doesn't seem to have legs, but seems to move around almost worm like... there seems to be one other little one on the otherside. What treament do you think will be required if I can catch him?

Check the shelves at your marine fish store. I think formalehyde, malachite green solutions will kill them. A freshwater dip might kill them. Find the word monogenean on the bottle. Treat them outside your tank.

I have a related question. I picked up a Purple Firefish 2 days ago, and this morning confirmed the fish has what appears to be this same parasite. There are 5 or so of them visible, but they are a good bit smaller than the one pictured.

I've caught the fish out of my QT, and I'm returning him now.

My QT has live rock and sand, should I consider the tank infected? Should I treat the tank, and with what?
