My cousin just got this from a LFS in our area and the owner wasnt sure exactly what it is. I believe it is a purple or blue hammer coral but it is very small and hard to decide on the shapes of the heads to get an exact ID on it. Was also wondering what everyone thought its health condition was. Please let me know what you think of it, thanks.

Doesn't look overly happy right now. Not necessarily unhealthy, just unhappy. Once it gets adjusted and starts plumping up, it should be easier to tell what you have.

Yeah the LFS just opened and they ran into a few problems with their frag tanks that caused some health problems, so Ive just been a little worried with the way that it retracts and has some skeleton showing.

dont want to rain on your parade but i dont think i would call it purple or blue. it will be more along the lines of grey, and it doesn't look very happy at this point..

Thanks guys, Suzig the color is more what I was wondering about. It's health is a pretty obvious issue. I couldn't decide whether or not it was actually a hammer and what color it will be. Suzig I've never seen a grey hammer, is there a place that has pictures of one for reference?

i mean grey is kind of a vague term but it will more than likely be dull in color. i mean who knows for sure it may end up a gem, but ime, its not anything rare or unique. it could even be a frogspawn. its kind of hard to tell with out the tentacles fully inflated but id guess it may end up with color like this.

Thank you, I appreciate the help. I agree that is probably what it will be. Have you ever owned one like this? I've been hoping for some fluorescence but haven't seen any yet. Do hammers this color fluoresce?
