Purple linkia

I have a tamaria stria in a 150, looks the same but it has 7 legs. I wanted a purple linckia but could not find one for sale. Had it for a little over a year. I tried moving it from the 150(300-350LR) to a 90(150LR) and it dropped two legs in a week, moved it back to the 150 and it made a full recovery. If you settle on a stria make sure you have ample LR. That's pretty cool. Right now the only star I have is a sandsifting star and he is doing really well in my 55. The tank was established 3 years before I added him and there is still tons of little micro organisms for him.
I just want to put a more colorful star in my 180 that comes out more often than my sandsifting star. I mean don't get me wrong the sandsifter is out quite a bit, but always dives into the sand shortly after. I would love to have a brightly colored star that could be admired all the time. I thought a purple linkia because I like the look of linkias and they are supposedly easier than the blues.

Sorry for the bad pic but its purple! I have only had it for a few months and found this thread looking for a poll of people that have kept linckia's. I want to know how successful people have been. I have been reading most will die very quickly in our aquariums and would like to start trying to get the locals to stop buying them. But I would like more evidence to post. Any help would be appreciated.
I've been trying and failing to find any info on these guys, but since I posted this thread I started working at my local pet store/lfs and we don't even have the option to order the orange or purple linkias on our order lists from our livestock supplier, we can special order them though. This makes me question the real hardiness variation between the different colors. They may all need the same care. Four years ago this lfs as well as the other one in my area used to have a blue linkia in stock almost every week. Sometimes these would be the same star, but think of how many were sold to uneducated hobbyists. Those of us who are interested in keeping a linkia are concerned for long term health and want to set out to achieve that goal, where as the regular hobbyists that fall into the category of "ooh that's pretty I want it... What is it?" don't even know how to care for it. I think if we were to just treat these stars like we do our LE corals and baby them we can successfully house these magnificent creatures.

Yeas orange, maroon, and the spotted linkas(linka Multifora) are supposed to be easy. Also it all depends on how they are handled and acclimated. They need to be acclimated really slowly like 3-4 hours at drip rate. If thats not done they will die a few months later. Yes a few months not a few days.

I think if you use the search buttom on WWM you probably wont buy one. If you do good luck. I have been trying to find if there has been a poll on people who have keep linkias. Anyone seen one?

I just bought a purple about 5in and it has lost two legs in the past 12 hours. Not looking to good. I have had a 2in orange one for about 3-4 months with no problems.
