Purple or Flame?

Well I am thinking about getting a firefish or two. I like both species equally, but I wanted to hear about others experiences with both kinds and their recommendations. Can I keep both species together?

well i have a purple and did have a regular "flame", i personal noticed absolutly no diffrence between the 2 other than color

as far as keeping them in the same tank probably not a good idea unless the tank is huge or you want one to kill the other

I think the red fire fish look better, personally. Mine ate anything and everything I fed the tank including PE mysis pieces, pellets n flake.

I was in a similar situation and decided to get both the red and the purple! They were added to my 75g on the same day and there has never been a problem.

My tank is only 29 gallons. Firefish are my favorite of all reef fishes. Me thinks I will go with the flame mainly because they are less expensive and this is my first SW tank. My tank has just hit 31 days old 5 min. ago:fun4:. Hope to hear more:blownsorry couldn't resist the smiley)

For your size tank the flame is a good decision. Purples are normally more aggressive and you can keep more flames together in a small space without them killing each other or chasing them out of the tank.

I had a red one and a purple one in a 29g tank without issue. They napped together at night after lights-out. From what I understand, though, this is unusual.

I added the red one first, and when I added the purple one a few months later, I chose one a little bigger than the red. They squabbled for about half a day and then settled down.

On e of each should be fine its when you have multiples of each that the problems start.
