Purple Rocks??

Hello everyone, I'm trying to understand why my rocks are not purple. Granted I all ready have about 150lbs of rock that is purple, but I have had that for years. I recentely added 50lbs of rock that my cousin gave me to my system. I cured the rock for 2 months before I added it to my system. It has been in my display tank for 2 months, and my calcium is at 480 thanks to my Geo. Why is the calicum not bonding to my rock?

i see you have halides, maybe change salt. i use red sea pro and dose calcium every once in a while and since i added my t5's im getting alot of purple, good luck

also seeding the rock may help. this can be done by scraping all the coralline off of your glass and getting small particles floating everywhere and landing on your rock. once it comes in contact it will attach, and the rest is history.

It can take a lot longer than 2 months for coraline to cover your rocks. Scraping some off the glsas or other rocks will help it spread.

Seed the rock, maintain propler calcium levels, magnesium levels, alkalinity levels & salinity, avoid major temperature swings, dont light shock the existing rock, avoid urchins, give it enough light, dont give it too much light, avoid adding magic elixirs like purple up, wait a couple months, wait a couple more months.

After six months everything should be pretty good and purple.

Unless you mess up any of the above issues. Then wait another six months.

I hate the stuff. It grows on my acrylic tank and is the pits to scrape off.
