I a 125 would these three fish be compatible ? I already have the purple tang but I want to add a desharde (not sure on spelling) salfin and a Sohal tang ? i know right off the bat the purple and salfin would be figthing but idk what d oyou think >?

yeah thats what I was thinking. I want to add some more fish and i was thinking maybe I could like do a red sea type reef. but idk cuz i want a queen angel too lol

You will end up the just the sohal, so save some money and just buy the one fish to begin with, oh and make him you last fish.

SOHAL, to big ! for your tank + to mean
PURPLE. by himself [no other tangs]
SAILFIN. have you seen the size of these and how fast they grow! to big as well.
ALL THREE, don't do it.:)

Must say that I agree with this. The Sohal, while pretty and well behaved as a juvenile, will be beautiful and highly agressive as it matures. Not to mention they grow to 12". Their size and agressive nature will lead to the death of other fish, particularly other tangs, regardless of when and whom they were added to the tank.

There are exceptions, but those usually revolve around very large tanks with LOTS of swimming space.

At my work we have a saltwater pond with many Kole, yellow, purple, sohol, hippo, and scopas tangs along with a 10 ten inch naso and a 8 inch plus sailfin tang, and our pond isnt to large. No fights to my knowedge.:p

yeah but your talking about a big area correct ? like 200 plus gallons or wait a pond probably like into the thousands

also, a freind of mine has a 125 also and he has a large naso and a purple and yellow tang. he said the purple and yellow fought for liek a week but then stoped and now and then they will just puff themselves up but no serious problems. idk what to do

I have just had to rehome a PJ tang, very simular to the Sohal! I thought i would get away with the agression issues in my 360g system with a hippo tang, lipstick and a sailfin. No chance!

The PJ i bought as the smallest tang because of their attitude, up untill about 6months ago the PJ tang was so laid back and placid, then started chasing the others just a little more weekk by week.

I have had the fish for two years but it came to a point where the tank would just be so much more peacefull without him, and at only 6.5" he would only have got worse. Though i was sorry to see him go as he was a stunning specimen.

Since he has gone all my other tangs are swimming around and on show much more, and the whole tank just feels more peacefull.

I think these fish, size issues aside belong in aggressive fish only set ups, they really need tank mates like triggers etc to keep them in line!
The Sohal is a very simular fish.

Just my 2cents, but bare it in mind!

Regards
Mark
