Purple stripe dotty back

I have a purple stripe dotty back that cam with a 30 gal cube I bought for the corals. I'm trying to decide if I want it in my 150 DT. I've had the 30 gal now for over a month and the dotty never swims around. Always stays really close to the rock hole.
Anyone else share their experience with them in a mixed reef? I have several Tangs, fox face, six line, blenny, clowns, flame angle, and a chromis in my 150

Should I add it?

I have an orchid dotty back in a 125 with several reef fish. He was second in the tank and for several months it was just him and the clown. He was hidden quite a bit then. He would hang with the clown once in a while but not much. 7 other fish over the last year and he's out a lot more now and never has issues with anybody. The orchids are supposed to be the least aggressive of the dotty backs so you might have trouble and once he's in there you'll never get him out. He will pick a cave and that's where he'll stay most of the time.

Depends what you want from a fish? I have a springers dottyback (the one in the avatar). Had it for 8 years now and you only see it when you really look. I'm fine with that as it means you really look into the tank and see things you'd probably miss but the colour doesn't help as being black it doesn't stand out. I wouldn't change it for anything.

I also have a pair of indigo dottybacks in a 2ft cube. Being purple you see a lot more of them but they are also always in and out of the rockwork, by far enough to make them a worthy addition. I do think the pairing helps as the female is out and about and the male is always near by on the pull. He only disappears when he is guarding eggs. The tank is very peaceful though and they have no one to fear. I must admit that i do have a six line in the other tank with the springers and since that went in it has been less out and about. I put most of that down to not aggression, but more active hunting in the rockwork due to competition.

That's what I was afraid of. I want more active swimmers in the water column
