Purple tang scraping against pvc pipe

I have a purple tang that's in qt. I've had him for 1.5 weeks. Has been eating everything I give it. Diet is mostly seaweed and pe mysis and selcon soaked once a week. Feeding it 3 times a day!

I just noticed it scraping against pvc pipe a couple times. No strange behaviour except for the past day he's been swimming up and down once in a while,

He was at the lfs for 2 weeks in full copper. I've treated it with prazi a few days after I got it because I noticed him twitching which I read could be a sign of flukes.

I do not see any white spots or symptoms of ich besides scraping. What should I do? Should I start copper as a preventative measure or ttm?

Water parameters
Sg 1.019 same as when I got him from lfs.
Temp 78
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0

It sounds like you're already doing everything you can. Is he scraping up against it so much that he's causing damage? Could this be just an isolated incident?

After watching him closely he's only doing it once in a while. Been hiding in the pvc pipe for sometime comes out every now and then. Swims up and down and Swims mostly against the bottom of the tank. Did notice flashing or twitching. I noticed this last week and dosed prazi as I thought it could be flukes. He was in prazi for 3 days. I do notice a white sheen on his skin I've noticed this from day one. Is this normal for purple tangs? It's only from certain angles.

Just confused cause I see no white spots. Debating if I should do TTM or copper. If it's ich or velvet only copper will do but if it's nothing then I'll be puttingoing a healthy fish through copper for no reason.

Need advise from you experts

The white sheen is normal with purple tangs. I send all my fish, particularly tangs through the tank transfer method before I put them in the quarantine tank (also treating them twice with PraziPro during the transfers). At this point you could simply continue to observe the tang or go ahead and start the tank transfers. I would start the transfers, but ich rarely kills quickly so if it the cause of the itching you should see it before it becomes a threat to your tang.

I would do TTM. I personally do this now with all fish and two rounds of prazi during the TTM, every other transfer. Also I do a formalin dip on all fish during TTM. Then put them in a QT for an observation period. If you do decide to do TTM, I would use those 13 days to let your QT dry out and stay dry 24+ hours to kill off possible ich cysts and set it up again if you have media from a disease free tank handy.

This. Ich does not need to be visible and still be present.

I just noticed like a 2 spots (discoloration) near the beginning of his dorsal fin and head. And a clear white dot near one eye. Again only trying to get the best diagnosis to treat properly. I've already started ttm for ich. But now I'm thinking could it be velvet?

Maybe but the skin can still be inflamed/irritated. Your still on the first or second transfer?

Yup he has some discoloration at the beginning of his dorsal fin. His appetite has slowed a bit but could be cause of the prazi ( in case its flukes )I added last night. He's still eating mysis but has given up on seaweed completely. Would go crazy for it but hasn't even touched it in the last 12 hours. What do you guys think? Flukes? Velvet? Ich? Only 1 spot on him near his eye.

I don't know a lot about diseases, but fish can scrape, rub, and flash for lots of reasons. There is one disease you didn't mention that I think can make one spot. I think it's called lymphocitosis?

After watching him for some time here's what I'm noticing. No spots again except one near his eye. Scratching has stopped. Won't eat seaweed but is still eating mysis. Hangs out at the bottom of the tank 95% of the time, gliding against the bottom of the tank whenever moving from one side to another. I notice some flashing like rapidly swimming away from something. Did notice he's hanging out by a powerhead every now and then. Is it normal for tangs to just completely stop eating seaweed? Aren't they crazy for it?
