Purple tang 'Twitching'

Hello,
I recently purchased a purple tang from my lfs. I put it straight into my main tank. the next day, the fish started making constant 'jerks' or 'twitches', this has continued to happen, any idea if this is a disease and what to treat?

If the fish is scratching on the LR or substrate when he "twitches"; its probably ich or velvet.

Flukes can make fish twitchy too.

It's not scratching rocks, from what I've noticed, flukes is a possibility. I'm going to wait a bit before going ahed with a FW dip/prazi... It's still eating everything and no spots yet...

I would just treat the DT with prazi beacuse whatever he has will likley spread to the other fish . I know some people just dont have the room but still cant understand why someone would put a new fish in the DT without qt! Its certainly not worth a tank wipeout ...good luck

I agree with the Prazi-Pro comments too. IMO, all fish should be treated with PP and its the only med I'd ever use in a DT, even a reef. Very safe & easy.
