Purple vs. Yellow Eye Kole Tang.

I'm setting up a 120 gal tank. I was wondering if there would be any problem with the 2 tangs in the 120 gal. I know the Purple tang can be aggressive at times, but I'm not sure if the 120 is big enough for both of them.

I would skip the purple. Just too aggressive. I have personally watched one draw blood on a Clarkii clown, so I don't want to imagine what it would do to another tang.

Wow...that's crazy. So want other tang would you recommend to go with the Kole? Don't really like Yellow tang.

If its a 4' 120 I wouldnt recommend any other tang then a Kole or other Ctenochaetus species.

There are so many other fish you can do, stick to the kole. When I had one he, and my bluethroat trigger had the best personalities. That and he had a shimmer to him, kind of an irridescent color that made him stand out. One of my favorite fish to watch.

I had this mix in a larger tank and I can tell you that it wasn't pretty. I would just stick with the kole if I were you.

It is the std 120 gal 4'. Since I should only have one tang....I'm going to get the Spotted Yellow Eye Kole. They are hard to find but I'm going to make him, and a Mystery Wrasse my show fish.

Check out the Blue eye tang too, they look very similar to the kole, but have blue eyes and get a little bigger.

I just check out the Blue eye tang, and it does look very much like the Spotted Kole, and a lot cheaper. I never heard of it until Iceh mention it.

I have one, and the blue ring around the eye is stunning. Loves to eat algae off the rocks -- even red turf algae -- at least mine does.

Mine seemed pretty docile, but caused me issues today when I introduced a multi-colored angel -- more issues then my flame angel did.

I think it's pretty cool that you asked for advice and kept an open mind throughout. Way to be responsible with the fish that you're going to keep!!:thumbsup:

I think they call that wisdom...

2 of the 3 LFS's nearest to me currently have 1 or more blue eyes, and multiple koles. For a common fish, you're better of waiting until a LFS has them, $30 compared to $30 + $30 for shipping.
