Putting a Blueface Angel in my Reef?

My blueface angel I've now had a couple years is my favorite fish and I would love to transfer him in my reef tank. He would just make the tank as far as fish go. Shy but still comes out from the rock work to be friendly.

I've seen them in reef tanks before, but wanted some real advice about it. I don't want to end up with a serious problem. I have a lg. derasa clam that I can't let anything happen to, so what is everyones experiences/advice with this fish in my reef tank? I would love for this to work-out.

I put a rock with green star polyps into my FOWL tank. My Blueface angel immediately ATE the WHOLE LOT OF 'EM !!

Depends on what type of "reef". I think you would have better chances with an SPS dominated tank, as opposed to a softie/LPS tank. I had one that loved brains and other fleshy LPS, but didn't touch clams, hammers, frogspawns and SPS. Not sure what they would do to zoos or softies though, although I heard they love zoos as well.

Had one in a reef many years ago..... loved to munch on zoas (like candy!) and nipped at clams. Mushrooms faired OK for a while, till one day the Blueface noticed they were there.... and promptly ate them.

Never bothered star polyps (yellow polyps were toast!) nor did it bother the frogspawn, torch or hammer corals.

They generally do better in SPS tanks... but no guarantees.

Blueface angel = Euxiphipops xantomethopon ?

This is also my dilema, at his point. I definitely want to add one to my mixed (but SPS dominated) reef. This would be my first choice.
I also have a flame angel (C. loriculus)

I´m not putting any meaty LPS or zoos, but I would really like to have some clams. I used to have a derasa and the flame sometimes nipped at it, but with no serious harm. I also have gorgonias.

I know its a 50/50 shot, but ...

the moral of the story is- angel are hit and miss. you'll get a bunch of posts where people tell you they did iot without any problem (like me). Then you'll hear from other people that they wrecked the tank. There is no way to tell.

If you try, keep him well fed, as this will lessen the likelihood hell look into the corals and clams for a food source.

I will not do it , my large Emperor started to nip on my clams after is been with them for three years not to bad yet but you can see they are not open up is much as they use to. You can take a change but be sure you can get the fish out ASAP if it start to nip on your clams i don't know what i'm going to do with my clams yet.
