Putting in new mh bulb

Quick question when u replace a mh bulb should u lower the photo period or anything do u don't fry stuff or is there anything I should do ? Or just screw it in as leave everything be

You can cut back light cycle or if you can hang the light higher off the tank it'll help

It's in canopy thanks for the response. Would u do the same thing if I changed the bulb wattage also ? I have a lumatek ballast with the 400 watt option and was thinking of bumping it up .... I only have one light over the tank about 10" and the tanks 25 tall and doesn't seem very bright I use 14k bulbs for the good growth but have been thinking about going 20 k and going to 400 to keep the numbers up? But I'm scared ill fry stuff also

I would cut the lighting period in half and raise it an hour a week regardless of bulbs or wattage

ok thanks i acctually put the 400 in about a hour ago and noticed poloyp ext from a few coralls that have never really opened up for my before wow
