Putting oxygen into my tank?

I decided to scrap my crappy protein skimmer through ocianic but was wondering if it is a good idea to use the small air pump to oxygenate the tank a bit. Can this harm fish or coral? The pump has a tube that can run where ever in the tank, and I could just through a air stone on the end. Theres also a valve on the tube it has to adjust air pressure from none to a ton.

Aim your (if they can) circulation pumps to the surface a bit, run your sump or agitate the water surface in any way possible.

If you put livestock in the stream of bubbles it could be harmed-
plus it always reminds me of freshwater tanks...

I use them in my tank because it has a canopy that is closed pretty well and has no sump. If you have a sump, I'd personally put it in there for appearance reasons imo.

corals and other sessile inverts can be harmed if bubbles get caught in your tissue, fish will be fins just as long as all corals are out of the way. i had a pump in my tank and when strategically placed with a bar air stone can look very nice and add a good backdrop to the tank

persoanlly i think it's a great idea, but a good protein skimmer is even better.

After I read this article, i bought a protein skimmer for my qt as well.

Well I agree that protein skimmers are awesome but the specific model I bought it just a waste of money. I think Id rather go with the cartridge filter over the cheap protein skimmer.

I do not think most creatures will be harmed, but you'll get salt spray and splatter all over the inside of the hood from popping bubbles.
