PVC primers/glue. How to do plumbing without showing this ugly stuff

Hi guys. What is a good way to prevent the purple PVC primer from showing? My next build is an open steel cage and all the plumbing is showing.

previous builds, I try to wipe the extra primer off as much as I can. but some still shows. This time I'm buying colored PVC, so I would really like to avoid all the purple primer mix..

Is there a clear colored primer?

Any other way to keep it clean beside wiping and hoping nothing get squeezed out later?

for example: trying to avoid these purple on the connection cracks

thanks!

Use clear primer and clear glue (or no primer) and use alcohol to remove the bar codes on the fittings. There won't be any bar codes on the colored PVC.

If you chamfer the edges of the PVC (there is a tool for that) there is very little reason for the primer if you are careful.

I have never used primer, use cleaner only if absolutely needed, use clear pvc cement, and wipe all the joints with a paper towel. Never had a leak. Our systems are under almost no pressure, so even if it isn't technically perfect, it will be fine.

I have never used primer either and never a single leak. A PVC cleaner will work just fine since tank plumbing is very little pressure as billdogg has said. The glue alone should be enough to hold fittings fine.
