PVC use

I recently bought some PVC piping to make modifications to my sump and refugium. Previously it was all tubing.

The PVC is stamped : VENT AND DRAIN ONLY. It is sch40 PVC.

Can I use this with saltwater?

It seems like a dumb question, but I've never used PVC on any of my tanks in the past, and definitely don't want to lose everything because of this mistake.

I guess this means I can't use the PVC glue either?

I'm holding off on my project until I find out. I wish I would have asked this before I bought all the stuff.

Its fine. So is the bonding agent. Its probably not rated for hot water, hence the vent and drain only marker. I've never heard of any PVC that wasn't safe for aquariums.

Oh, and my Clown Trigger says Hi. Well, it was more of a *gurgle*, but I'm sure that's what he meant.

Maybe I'll post some pics when my sump reroute project is complete.

The warning might just mean that it's not rated to take very high pressure (like sch80). But since it's schedule 40, it's more than adequate for aquarium use. Regular PVC cement is safe for saltwater use, but just make sure to let it "cure" for several hours before you run water thru it.
