I was given a Pyramid Butterfly yesterday (Hemitaurichthys polylepis) who apparently had a baterial infection on his face, which basically eroded his snout, or lips. My friend didn't want to kill him because he was still able to eat and appears to act normally, although he is visually disfigured. My question is what are the chances he could regrow his snout, and is there any treatment which could help the process or increase his chances. I put him into my reef tank and he gets along very well and no one picks on him, I'll keep him, even though he is disfigured, but I figured if there is something I could do to help I might as well.
