QT Dilemma

I have a dilemma. I have a purple tang in QT, the tank is a 20L with a sponge filter that I had in my sump for 3 weeks. I just noticed my hippo has Ich, he has only been in my display for 4 weeks, and I put him in hypo as soon as I got him. I recently added an RBTA that I think might have brought in Ich, because my water conditions are fine, I can’t think of anything else. Besides the hippo I also have 2 clowns that show no signs of Ich. I want to leave the tank fishless for 40 days and treat the hippo and clowns in hypo. So the dilemma is what do I do with the Purple Tang, I have a 10 gallon that I am not using, but I don't have an extra sponge filter in my sump. I was thinking of transferring the Purple Tang into the 10 gallon and using a hang on filter, then adding the hippo and clowns to the 20L. I am getting two extra sponges that I will add to my sump tomorrow, my concern is for the time being do you think the 10 gallon with a hang on filter will be sufficient until the sponges are seeded? since your other tank is not cycled the problem will be combating the build up of ammonia. you will have to monitor it closely and do frequent water changes to keep the levels low. you could also seed it with a small piece of LR. i would put the largest fish in the bigger tank with the clowns.

I didn't think of the LR, that is a good idea. My other question is since my display has Ich when I do water changes, should I use new SW opposed to water from my display? Also if I add a piece of LR to the 10 gal could I possibly introduce Ich, can Ich be carried on LR? And if I seed the new sponge filters in my display can the sponge filter transfer Ich?

If I use the LR in the QT where I am putting the fish in Hypo, will the LR have die off with the decreased salinity causing a ammonia spike?
