Qt in garage

Anyone see any issue with setting up my qt in garage? In so cal but right now its cold... cars won't ever be in garage.. I guess as long as i have heater should be ok right?

What's cold in so cal? As long as the heater is big enough to keep temps up you should be good. I've seen sumps in the garage here in NJ without issue. They were well insulated garages though

Upsize the heater, it's probably warmer in the garage. Heat would be your only issue.

My qt is in the garage. I have 2 sids of it very insulated it help keep the heat in the tank in the winter and the heat out in the summer. Been thinking of making a cover for it to help insulate it even more.

One possible issue might be the eventual rusting of any tools or other nearby metals that you store nearby.

A garage is no different than any other room/structure (even more so when you aren't parking cars in there which won't matter even if you did)..
If it gets too cold you will need heat.. If it gets too hot you will need cooling..

I’d get an inkbird temp controller or something if your going to get an oversized heater to deal with colder ambient conditions. That’s just me because I had a bad heater experience recently.

I am having the same thought except I am in Texas. Fine right now but won’t be in a month or so. About the only area I have space to setup QT’s.

Might need a chiller, I have a couple tanks in the garage and have an over sized heater and chiller

Each tank would need a chiller I assume so you do not cross contaminate ? Have never used a chiller but have seen they are high $$

I am having the same thought except I am in Texas. Fine right now but won't be in a month or so. About the only area I have space to setup QT's.

Im in Austin. I do my QT in the garage, fall winter and spring. Come end of May, thru Sept. its a bit too hot. Fans wont keep the tank cool when its 75 at night and 95 in the day with humidity. That's where the utility room comes in.
Or its expensive, like my Nem.

Thanks for posting this OP, as I was having same sort of thought. Here during winter we get to 0C (32F) so I wasnt sure if it would be wise to even think of something like this. I was thinking about having QT and coral grow out tank in garage. QT wouldnt be too big of an issue cause i could get fish and keep qt running during warmer months (6 months at least), but grow out tank would have to be going 365, which could be an issue cold wise.

On the other hand this could be a good thing (for QT at least) as it would slow me down during late fall, winter and early spring. I wouldnt be really adding anything to the DT, so it would give it time to get all parameters right, and get everything happy
