QT Question & Returning to DT

Happy Dance! :celeb1: Day 72 is almost here and fishies get to return home!!! Question, We treated with the cupermine protocol, last few weeks running carbon to help clean it up. Three remaining fish fat and healthy. Do we need to do a fresh water dip prior to transfer back to DT?

We also had a slight snafu in the DT last weekend but numbers are perfect again as of last night. My sweet pincushin urchin died. No idea why. I found her on her head Friday in the morning, righthed her then when I got home that evening she had lost all her spines, stunk and was hard. Obviously dead. We did a 25% water because I was worried about toxicity then the following day our red tipped anenome spilt for the first time... Very nerve racking weekend, now I know why people end up abonding this hobby. Its not for the faint of heart.

No need for a fresh water dip. IMO, it's unnecessary stress. If your salinity AND pH will allow it just transfer them directly. Otherwise just acclimate them normally. Limit water transfer into the DT as much as possible just to be safe.

But be aware that copper must be for a minimum of four weeks and the concentration must be maintained rigorously. A fresh water dip has no value in dealing with ich.

Cupermine was 6 weeks and maintained, I think that may have been what wiped out my blue tangs liver or bladder. We then ran the carbon to clean up the tank. Day 72 tomorrow :rollface: I was just worried about the copper as my DT has an anenome that just split, and other inverts residing in it. Now to rebuild.......And read up on QT since I relied on my fish guy to do it for me in the past.
