QT Question

I QT all incoming fish like your supposed to. I first treat them with prazipro for the first two week like recommended. Now my LFS runs all his "fish for sale" tanks with copper. I have two tangs in my QT at the moment and have had them in for a week. I read somewhere that if the fish have come from copper treated tanks then you don't need to QT the full 5-6 weeks. The particular fish I bought have been in LFS copper tanks for 12 weeks and 7 weeks..

What are your reccomendations

LFS do not put enough copper in their tanks to be at a treatment dose. In actually the low levels of copper will keep illnesses at bay but once they removed from the LFS the an illness will show up sometimes as much as 30 days later.

I would advise to still do a full QT and be extra vigilant. I would actually prefer to get fish that are not kept in low dose copper environment. Just my 2 cents worth good luck

I would still go through the full qt, no reason to take a chance. How do you know the lfs runs their copper levels high enough to eliminate ich?

Full QT.
Do not trust that any LFS does effective disease treatment or quarantine.
30 days seems long until you have stare at a fishless tank for 72.
And 72 days seems longer if you have to listen to someone say 'Where's all the fish?'
