QT question

alright, so I'm setting up my qt and had a few questions:roll eyes:
This so far is my qt tank Ive yet to put the pvc pieces in there and cover the front so he doesn't get to see all the action happening in our house and well so he or she isn't stressed out.
Ive gone through a few threads and haven't really found an answer but I don't see many saying to put in a grounding plug on the qt??
Whats the consensus on this?

Also anything else that I might of missed?
thanks in advance

Assuming you mean a grounding probe I think the consensus is that a gfci is a better option to protect you.

I would look at switching eggcrate to the smaller 1/4" mesh screen. A lot of people have had fish go through eggcrate.

Also ammonia alert badges are a really cheap safety measure.

Thanks Ruskin
I was under the impression that the grounding probe "caught" stray voltage?
The GFCI was more along the lines for more of an exterior safety measure?
and thanks for the ammonia badge idea that I will def. be doing :)

I personally do not use a grounding rod or probe in my tank or QT. If you feel better using one then I do not believe it will cause any harm. Good luck on your QT

You're welcome. Congrats on having a QT tank, it's a really smart idea.
Check out this thread, specifically post 5 for way more info then I could provide on the subject of electricity. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2177182

awesome thanks ill check it out... looking forward to my build which ill probably do a build thread... fun stuff!!!!

I would put an Ammonia Badge on it. This will alert you of the ammonia levels in it. Very helpful. Ammonia is deadly in a QT.
