Qt question

So i lost several fish due to velvet with the exception of a flame hawk. So I set up a QT and let it cycle and added my hawk who was not displaying any symptoms of any parasites. I bought a bonded pair of clown and added them to my QT. To be preventative I decided to start a copper treatment in case the hawk was infected. I added my first and second dose of copper as per the directions but didn't realize that the copper level was very low. It has been 28+ days at this level but it was not at the recommended level to kill the parasites. All the fish look great and are eating and behaving normally.*

Soooo here is my dilemma.... Because the fish are looking good i'm hesitant to add more copper to the QT because the fish do not seem sick. However, I am also thinking maybe I should bring up the level to therapeutic levels just to be sure.*

My display is current fallow and I plan to leave it that way for the recommended amount of time (70 days)

Thoughts?

Copper is not fully effective unless maintained at a therapeutic level. Subtherapeutic copper kills some, but not all, of the free swimmers. You very likely still have velvet in your QT, but the concentration is sublethal which is why the fish are looking good. Many LFS employ subtherapeutic copper. The fish looks great at the store, but parasites come roaring back once the fish is placed in a DT with no copper.
