QT question

Question, when i buy snails or shrimps, do I have to put them in QT or I can put them into display tank right away? what about corals? thanks

I've never quarantined snails or shrimp. That said, they (especially the shrimp) require a proper acclimation period. At least 2 hours using a drip.

I doubt too many people are set up for quarantining corals, considering the lighting requirements. Yeah there are guys with big fish rooms with multiple frag tanks, grow out tanks, and all that. But I really doubt the average person quarantines corals.

Fish for sure though.

that is what i'm thinking. i cannot do corals because i do not have light. so what can i do?

one of the new fish died today after 4 days in QT. There was no sign of any sickness just eating slow and a little, but i think that was just becuase she was new.

When do I have to start worring about fish not eating good? 2 days? 4? a week?

If I want to buy a new fish and add it to the QT with fish in there is the coundown starts for all fish or for one I just added?

thanks.

Flame Angelfish - $45.

I'm just crashed.. wanna quit this marine stuff... i was so looking forward to see it in a main tank.. also i bought 2 neons wich disappered the next day and can't find them... god i hate it..

i have 2 more fish in QT and one of them almost not eathing. (blue tang)

How big is your QT? Sounds like you're putting a lot of fish in there. Are you sure you're not having ammonia problem?

Blue tangs are very shy and can take a while for them to come out and eat, esp. in a bare-bottomed QT. Try to feed him zooplanktons which can float throughout the water and give him a better chance to catch something w/o having to come out.
