QT set up.....copper or not?

So I recently learned a very valuable lesson. I now have a qt tank set up and now my question is....do I dose with copper reguardless or only if signs of parasites occur?

You'll get varying opinions on how best to treat. Some treat proactively, some don't. I personally have moved away from proactive chemical treatments for crypto. Instead, I perform tank transfer on all new additions, followed by two treatments of prazi and 30 days observation.

+2 Although I'm a lot more comfortable treating prophylactically with Chloroquine phosphate in place of copper.

I use TTM as prophylaxis against ich in QT. Everyone also gets Prazi for flukes, and then a month of observation to make sure no one has velvet. TTM is less harsh on fish than copper, IMO.
