Im goin to be swapping my ten gal into my 29g biocube and was wondering if i should keep the 10 for a qt. I also was curious if i had to keep it running when not in use. I dont buy new fish or corals often. Can i just fill with water from my 55 and after the qt is over dump it out and put it away? Thanks!

10g is great for a QT tank - espacially for a 29g DT. All I am using is a cheap HOB filter and a powerhead. Keep bags of ceramic disks hidden somewhere in your DT, and when you are ready to QT something, fill up the 10g tank and throw a bag or two of the ceramic disks into the HOB filter. Almost instant cycle - as long as you don't overfeed.

Remember, do not put the ceramic disks back into the DT - replace them (they are cheap). Good luck.
