QT tank previously used w/ copper

I have previously used my QT tank with copper to treat ich / velvet. Since then I rinsed the tank / used bleach / rinsed / rinsed / rinsed / rinsed some more. Used it to QT neons w/ freshwater for a week. Rinsed.

Now I will be using it to QT a BSJ. I know some fish are sensitive to copper... But my tank will be fine now?

I plan to watch my BSJ for a week and if all looks good pro-actively treat w/ Prazipro 2x. If all looks good he is going into my DT as the first new arrival after fallow 3 months! OMG.

I know that we are supposed to QT / QT / QT BUT I must say QT is hard! and with new tanks... even seeded from existing tanks the ammonia issues are a pain. Understanding what drug when is difficult... considering this is a MUST in the hobby I am thankful to have this forum.. b/c the LFS offers no good advice on QT at all. They recommended fallow for a few weeks not determined. Continue to say you should QT but have no information on what to do during QT time.

i personally think you will be fine. are you adding anything back into the new setup that was in the previous copper added setup? you only need to worry about something that absorbed copper at some point and then is releasing it back into the new setup. some people say the silicone on the aquarium will leech back out copper, but i didn't experience this on my old 75g QT setup. maybe just test for copper regularly until you get confident that it isn't leeching back out.

yes, LFS's don't [usually] preach QT'ing. they realize that QT'ing means additional time in between purchases. in a perfect world to them, you would buy $2,000 of fish on Day 14 or so, then have those fish die, and then buy $2,000 fish again. I am being cynical I know, but kind of is truthful to an extent.

point being, you are absolutely doing the right thing!
