QT tank question

I have set up a qt tank with a 4" Majestic angle fish. My question is if every three or four days I change say 10% of the water with water from my DT would that really be a water change. My thought behind this is when after 3 or 4 weeks he is ready to go into my DT the water would be the same. Your thoughts please

How big of a QT are you running?
Are you test QT daily for ammonia, nitrite and nitrates?
Are you treating the QT with any medications?
What filtration if any do you have on tank?

thanks for the reply. I have him in a 20 gallon long. I am testing water daily and all are within tolerable limits. I have not givin any medication as he looks fine and is eating frozen and pellets along with nori. Because I have not medicated my filtration is a wet dry filter with a sock filter and a protein skimmer. I also have an mp10 power head for circulation in tank

That sounds like the Taj Mahal of qt tanks sir, your fish should be just fine. Did you seed it with some bacteria (old filter sock works great). Not sure about the water being the "same" because you have rock, different filtration, stocking levels, etc, but it sounds like a good plan as long as you acclimate him when he's ready to move in

Yep sounds good just watch those ammonia and nitrite levels especially with angels they dont have much tollerance for them.
