QT Tank salinity

Setting up fish qt tank. What is suggested salinity? Don't know if 1.019 or 1.025 same as display.

I would do lower salinity for the reason that parasites or pest have harder time surviving in lower salt conditions.

If its a fish only tank, I would lower the salinity in the display too.

Display is mixed reef.
Set up qt because have Carlos hunting me down a Red Sea Regal Angel and then Australian harlequin tusk.

I would go 1.016-17

I agree with junktown. Just be sure to acclimate very slowly because its a huge difference between 1.016 & 1.025

While I haven't been as good about QTing new arrivals, I always have a QT/hopsital tank set up. I keep it at 1.025ish. I prefer to keep it there and would adjust down only if necessary. Can be more difficult to maintain proper pH when doing hypo. Plus, I find it easier to reduce salinity in a tank vs. raising it.

I've always ran my fish only systems on the lower side 1.016-17. Never had a problem with ich. I believe the LFS run their fish systems around 1.019.

I'm starting to treat a clown with ich, i noticed he had ich a week after purchase. The pair is in a qt tank now and i've been lowering the salinity.

They say go down to 1.009, that seems really low. Any other comments?

I keep it same as display. 1.025/1.026
