Bringing home a 4-5" sargassum trigger next week and need to QT it. I have a 10g tank that is up and running awaiting my next fish but this is too small a tank. I know most don't recommend having LR in the QT tank but I had extra so there' around 10lbs in there that couldu be pulled out if I need to treat the fish. Would a 20g be decently sufficent to house this fish if I keep a close eye on amonia. Hopefully the LR will help a bit...

I would go with at least a 29 gal. I have a 75 im getting rid of tank, stand, and glass tops. im in frederick md.

well..... im sure you can. dont see why you cant. its just better to see the fish when its in qt. kinda hard to see them in a trashcan. but im sure it would work.

I have used a rubbermaid container before but I would like to be able to observe the fish better...

I actually have a 72bow I could use but I dont' know where I could keep it other than the basement

set it up with some powerheads and there ya go!

I just don't really have a place for it...I'd rather go with a smaller tank but don't want to worry about the size of the fish and the water quality going south too quickly.

I use a 20L. It gives a little more swim room than some other tanks. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger QT. So far I've QT'd medium size yellow tangs (3-4 inches) for 4 weeks with no trouble.

Do those ammonia alerts from seachem or virbac really work, or do you guys just physically do a check every day?
