I always recommend Hypo before copper as copper might be a cure but it is stressful on the fish.

Honestly, with a blue spot, I would put it directly in the tank. They are very sensitive to stress which can bring them down fairly quickly. IMO, putting it into an established tank that has the proper substrate for them is the best choice.
