Please, does anyone know anything about this med? I want to use it in my FOWLR tank, which I might eventually turn into a reef, but have no corals/inverts in there yet.

Does it work?

I actually have it now, but I havent treated with it. I've heard it does really good on ich. I'm contemplating treating my FOWLR with it. My ich was really bad but it's cleared up a lot over the last week, so if it stays cleared up I'll go ahead and not treat.

Everyone who has used it says it works really well, that's all I can give ya. I'm confident enough in it I'm ready to use it on my tank if the crap hits the fat.

Only thing to be aware of is it kills off the biological filter, so beware of ammonia spikes. You will probably have to do lots of water changes afterwards until your bacteria build back up.

No idea about black ich.

No, it is supposed to kill all ich in the tank, not just nuke a certain part of the lifecycle but let other parts remain, which would cause it to come back.

Quinine sulfate kills all life stages of the ich parasite, ALL of them. Ideally if you treat right, you wont have ich again unless you introduce fish with it.

There are several known cures for ich that are considered almost bullet proof ... to my knowledge there is little evidence that would convince me to use quinine in my tank for any reason.

like what? Ive heard mixed about hypo results and I cant do copper cause I want my tank to be a reef soon...

so give me the bullet proof meds please

How about just catching the fish .. setting up a QT .. and fixing the problem. Might be a temporary PIA but its a reliable fix.

No offence but "reef safe" meds that fix ich problems are often talked about ... but common sense should tell you that if such an animal exists there would be a zillion less ich posts on RC.
