I just want to thank the regulars here that offer excellent advice to people in this forum when they need it.
This is my first post but I have spent countless hours reading the fish disease section.
I have had marine tanks for 5 years and recently set a new 750Litre/200 gallon system up. I hastily put new fish directly in to the tank. They all came down with velvet and I think ich also.
I had to completely strip down the entire setup and remove the fish to a quickly setup 300 Litre/80 gallon quarantine tank.
I lost two tiny blue tangs but managed just in time to save my powder blue.
I've never seen a fish so sick which recovered so quickly. I believe the one 12 minute fresh water dip I gave him allowed him to make it as long as he did. He shed an enormous amount velvet crap!
Once in the quarantine for the first night I found him the next day upside down in between my pvc and the side of tank. I thought for sure he was going to be dead in minutes. But the cupramine worked its magic and he seems to be getting better. He still isn't eating but swimming around actively today.
The rest of the fish seem fine.
As for the display tank, I have drained it, will clean it thoroughly and start over again. This time quarantining everything for 6 weeks (after they are healthy) before it even touches my tank.
So a big thanks to the experienced guys that frequent this forum and offer great advice.
You saved my fish!!
