Quarantine tank

I have had my reef tank set and running for about 6 months and i am now noticing ich on my blue regal tang. I have never noticed that he has been stressed. I am now in the process of treating the ich with herbtana ( 10 day ) course and adding Seachem focus/metradonizole/garlic to their food ffor 14 days. I wasn't sure if it was a fungus at first so I added the metradonazole. I have purchased an 8 gallon QT to keep going for sick fish. Should I try to catch the regal tang and QT him and treat independantly? I also purchased a UV sterilizer that I will turn on after the 10 day course of Herbtana. I would really love some feedback!!!!!!:fish2:

You should start the cycle on the QT tank and not move anyone until it has cycled. I would add a trap to your tank and start doing your regular feeding inside of it, as catching fish can be a pain. Getting them used to the trap for a few days is a good idea.

Unfortunately you can treat him in the hospital tank, but if you put him right back in after he is cured, he will likely come down with ich again. You need to consider letting your tank go fallow if you are going to keep tangs and other ich prone fish.

If you are not going to go with the fallow idea, put the trap in the tank so you are ready to catch him, but don't actually do it unless he's on his last legs. Hopefully he will get better or at least not worse. Hippos seem to do better with ich than powder blues or other types in my limited experience.
