I'm looking for suggestions on how to set up a simple 10gal tank.

I'm no expert, but from what I've read on these forums you need a cheap powerfilter, some extra pads that can be left in the main tank to be colonised by bacteria, a heater, some lighting and some PVC pipe (so the fish can hide somewhere).

I use a HOB powerfilter from my freshwater days, it came with a sponge that I had kept in my display for bacteria colonization then placed in the power filter, a powerhead in the tank to keep the water circulating well, heater, PVC, thermometer, and a simple strip light. Need to have water test kits as well to be able to monitor this tank's water parameters.
