WOW!! Thanks for the info.

And by the way, that wasnt an attitude, it was pointing out the fact that you have a fish that shouldnt be in a tank less than 100 gallons. Good luck!

Ha,ha,ha thats the funniest thing I've seen on this board. Jeff, since your no longer on the board for the club I guess people can talk to you anyway that want J/K Thats funny for a F.N.G to post that. Probably a miss communication but funny still :)

nothing like buying temporary fish. I think I'll buy a nurse shark for my 30 gallon. It should last about six months.

You can feed your zoas to that queen angel.

hahahahahahah just about the most welcoming group ive ever met!

thats for the info, smartest guys alive!

you know everything about life because you know fish tanks. maybe you guys should run for president or maybe just take care of the fish tank in the white house and then leave.

anyways I got rid of the fish guy sorry i upset you. ill never do it again. i hope you can forgive me.

next time ill put a great white in my house and just let it die and then send you pictures.

I am sure that this hobby has the worst hubris that I have ever come across.

All my other hobbies have very welcoming people. I'm sure that people will be bashing me on this forum for a while now, but it doesn't matter because we will never ever ever meet. Have fun at your meetings and try not to get too close to each other. Say whatever you want im not going to sign back into this crap ever again.

thanks for the help you did give me though.

I Like how the guy shows up and asks a million and one questions then insults one of our members that has helped the most people of all and then leaves. We are a very welcoming group and have picked up quite a few new members lately. We have many members that are beginners and give them all the help we can. We even give lots of freebies to the newbies that actually show up at meetings. I myself have given most of the new to the hobby members a coulple corals each.

Enjoy your Reef Man!

As a recipient of many of those freebies, I have to say that the members of this club are definitely a warm, welcoming group of people with plenty of good energy to share... not sure how the wires got crossed for TheApprentice.

Anyhow, THANKS Mike, Jeff, Tom (and others)... all of your advice and "here - try again" freebies have certainly helped inspire me to keep at it!

Again maybe there was a miscommunication. Honestly, there were many threads started by you and everyone has responded giving their two cents especially Jeff. So as far as being a welcoming club I thought we were pretty helpful in helping you out. I don't know what anyone said to offend you but your reply just opened a can of worms. I see it states student as occupation. You just closed a door for free frags and knowledge that most of these LFS can't give besides (James). The only reason why I state this is because I knew a fair amount in regards to reefs before joining this club. Since joining they opened me up to SPS's, water parameter testing (what tester to use and one major parameter that dictates the quality of the water), tank system setup, flow, lighting etc... Without this I would have spent too much money doing the guess work that some of them went through inorder to get the perfect lighting etc. I don't know if you can say it was your bad and everythings all good but you missed a good opportunity, especially being a student. Good luck with the tank.

I thank you again for your help that I did get and I am confident that you are helpful, as you helped me. I appreciate it. Sometimes I just feel that the newbie can be given some sarcasm as you can read from the posts before.

I guess I am just not an online person. have fun with the reefs because that is what its for. Thanks to those that helped.

"nothing like buying temporary fish. I think I'll buy a nurse shark for my 30 gallon. It should last about six months.

"A Queen should just about nip at your entire reef, so if you have a few corals in there, it should be fine."

It would be funny if in classrooms when kids made a mistake the teacher just made fun of them. that wouldn't be a very welcoming environment to learn and further questions by the student would be discouraged.

You do realize none of those comments came until after your little tiff. The only comment that was made was to give the queen angel a larger tank. You are clearly new to this hobby and may not have known. Too bad you just spit in the faces of people that would've gladly helped you without hesitation.

Jon-

Don't let the sarcasm of a few deter you from this new hobby. I'm sure no one meant you no real disrespect. But, it's always best to "feel the waters out" in any online group before jumping headfirst into the water without knowing what may be below the surface. And RC is full of beginner's questions just about that sort of thing. There's even a "New to the Hobby" forum that you might find very helpful.

One VERY common question, for instance, is "How many Tangs can I put in my 30 gallon tank?"...and that sort of question is asked so often that I think many of us tend to scratch our heads and wonder why someone hasn't researched that before buying a 30 gallon tank.

You never said, in your original post, how large your tank was- and the reply to your OP may have been somewhat in jest, but then again, assuming the replier knows your tank setup/size, it may have been an honest reply to your situation. For all I know you may have a 700 gallon monster tank- and I think you can keep an adult queen angel in that environment.
The other posters all just jumped on the bandwagon when it started to spiral out of control...and that's not cool imho.

Rather that questioning and putting your feet to the fire, if you DO have a smaller tank, I'd really put the LFS's feet to the fire for letting you buy a fish that isn't really suitable to your tank...if that is, indeed the case.

Best of Luck,

Robert

Robert,

That was a perfect post. No sarcasm, not even a hint of disrespect. thank you. I will surf the beginners section for a while and learn what I can. Thank you for your input, it was appreciated and I agree with you completely.
