Queen angelfish

If you say no to the rock beauty, how about any of the following:

-banded,reef,or spotfin butterflyfish
-blue tang
-red spotted hawkfish
-spotted scorpionfish

If you say no to the rock beauty, how about any of the following:

-banded,reef,or spotfin butterflyfish- some butterflyfish are hard to keep
-blue tang- imo to big
-red spotted hawkfish- fine i think
-spotted scorpionfish- no idea
the rock beauty eat sponges etc i think and aren't very easy to keep.

Yeah, I know that but my live rock grows ALOT of sponges. When I had a queen angel, he would always be snacking on sponges, but not have an appetite for pellets.

Rock Beauties are very difficult fish to acclimate and feed. IMO, it isn't just the sponge. I also think a 100 gal tank is too small for one. like i said above, if you have a grouper in this tank, you have very limited options. Do you know just what an adult coney grouper will eat? Certainly most red-spotted hawkfish would be lunch. BTW, most groupers are very fast growers and generally very aggressive as the get bigger. What other fish do you have with the grouper? With a grouper in a 100 gal tank, its very hard to suggest tankmates.

to be honest, 100 gallons is too small for ANY large angels. The only ones that may possibly be ok with is the genus of genicanthus. though, 100 gallons may still be on the small side for that genus.

if you upgrade to a 180 or 210, you may keep some of the smaller large angels, such as majestic, regal, and the chaetodontoplus genus.
