Ok so according to Dr Randy Holmes-Farley alk can be between 2.5 - 4 meq/L or 7 - 11 dKH and Calcium levels can be between 380 â€"œ 450 ppm calcium
taken from here http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/chem.htm

So i have tested my water i keep my salinity at 1.025 and i am consistantly running my calcium levels at 410-430 and my alk has been stable at 3.43 dkh 9.6this is all within the "acceptable" range but what i wonder is what you guys keep your levels at and what levels are best for SPS growth?

thanks

Ca 500 wow you are off the chart with that.. how is your SPS growth? how so you dose Ca?

500 isn't off my personal chart. :)
SPS grows.
Yup I dose cause my SPS and clams SUCK up the Ca daily.

this was a question my head as well lately since i have been trying to figure this sps thing out...

my tank seems to stabalize around 7.6-8.3dkh with a calcium of 410-430....

i have a MRC-CR2 calcium reactor and i will dose some seachems reef builder once a week to help boost my alk levels up.... seems like my alk gets depleted faster than my Ca does ...

sounds like people have lots of success in diferent ranges im just tryin to keep mine stable now

Alk 8-10

Ca 400-420.

I sometimes have issues with maintaining stable Alk in my 20G due to the small volume. It can go from 10-7.5 in about 5 days of heavy Calcium Chloride dosage.
