Question about clowns

Hey I have a question about tomato clownfish; does anybody know how old they have to be to pair up?

I bought a large female and a smaller looking male around 6 months ago and they don’t really seemed to have paired up. They where quite small when I bought them. I feed them frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp and two types of dried foods, but they just don’t act like paired fish. I have raised cichlids before so I was expecting some similar behave your. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how this would relate to clowns, specifically tomato clowns, but just because there is a male and female doesn't always equal getting a mated pair. I know with my bangaii's that they can be male and female but still consider each other "uncompatible". Although I've yet to witness this behavior myself. My pair love each other dearly.

fwiw, I bought my ocellaris clowns about 6 months back, I obviously have a male and female but they don't really act like they're paired up all the time. Sometimes they do, but other times, not.

Check at night, if they are take up seperate sleeping quarters they are not yet paired. If they are like two peas in a pod your'e there Maybe not an imperical truth but seems to hold up IME.

Yeah at night they stay in the same "cave" but during the day they battle with each other at feeding time.
I also though that Clownfish could reverse sex. but I wonder at what age they become sexual mature?

But I'm going to keep trying to get them in the mood.

my tomatos are paired but still fight during the day. The female is a little bigger then the male. when I got them they where living together and where a good size then. I think tomatos maybe one of the slower growers.
