question about clowns

I need some help with my tank, I know I want a clown, but after my pair of ocellaris died of clownfish disease I dont know. I am thinking about a pink skunk clown, just for something diffrent, what are they like? tank is a 20g long, only other fish are 1 trimma and 1 eviota gobies, a few more small gobies will be added, maybe a small wrasse too.

I was also thinking about getting a host anemone. I am thinking that an LTA or BTA would be my best bet, but because I have 2 powerheads in the tank I dont know about it. I also have an overflow. I was thinking an LTA would be an okay chioce because they stay in the sand. Any ideas? I dont mind not getting an anemone.:sad2:

powerheads and anemones dont mix, unless you take precautions like making big screens on the PHs intake.

BTA would be your best bet, if lighting and everything else is in check.

i havent seen any skunks host in a BTA though.

pink skunks ive found that captive bred are fairly hardy if they are a good size like none of that 3/4" fish stuff.

I really like my Pink Skunk Clowns. I ended up getting a captive raised "mated" (they're probably too young to technically consider mated) pair for my 12g nano. They'll probably need bigger accommodations when they get bigger, but that's another story. They're pretty typical as far as clownfish go. Mine are probably a little on the shy side, though strangely enough, the smaller of the two is by far the bravest of the two. They seem to have pretty good personality as far as clownfish go. I don't have any other fish in there with mine, so I'm not sure how they get along with tank mates.

As far as the anemone goes, in the future, I don't see myself getting another anemone just for my clownfish (I have one for my Maroon in my main tank). Although we're getting much better taking care of them, their long term survival rate (>3 years) still seems to be pretty low, especially since they can theoretically live forever in the wild. If you decide to get one, just be sure to do your research, give them sufficient lighting (usually MH or high quality T5), and have a well established tank (at least 6 months, preferably 1 year) with very stable water parameters.

Incidentally, these are a Pink Skunk Clownfish's natural host anemones: Heractis crispa (Sebae), Macrodactyla doreensis (Long Tentacle), Stichodactyla giganta (Giant Carpet), and Heteractis magnifica (Magnificent/Ritteri). The last of those is supposedly their preferred anemone.

as a note my pink skunks had a haddoni carpet host.

but out of the list for their host id say if you find a healthy anemone LTA or haddoni would be the best bet.

My pink skunk loves both my gbta and my rbta. There is one thing about my pink skunk I don't like, it won't help feed the anemone. Well, mine won't I don't know if other pink skunks will. Mine also likes to pull the anemones food out of its mouth. I still love the pink skunk though..it is so cute. I think a LTA would be better though because every time my bta deflates it really stresses my pink skunk out not having its home to sleep in at night.

My pair of pink skunks first were hosted by a BTA, when I got rid of that they went to my purple LTA, they are always near it. Great pair of fish.

If my clarkii pair ever dies ( had them for 7+ years now ) I will move them to that tank - think they would look great with my blue haddoni.
