Question about connecting a sump

I am in the process of building up a 90g tank with a proflex sump. This is the first time I have setup a sump. How are most people connecting the bulkheads to the sump intake? My bulkhead has barbs but I am not sure I want to use the ringed hose that came with the sump. Currently I have a 90 elbow coming off it but it isn't a tight fit.

My preference is a to use a standard bulkhead for the size plumbing that you are using. I've used uniseals as well which work fine but are not as robust as a bulk head.

same, take out of the barb or just replace the whole bulkhead. On the outlet to the return pump I would put a union between the sump and pump to make it easier to disconnect the pump in case it needs service or upgrading.

I changed the drain piping to fit the double intake on the sump. I am running flex hose from the 1262 back to the tank. I don't mind cutting that hose.

Do most people use pvc from the sump to the return? I couldn't find any pvc sizes that matched the output on the pump so I went with the flex hose. Easy to change thankfully.
