Question about feeding

I recently picked up a small favites frag from my LFS. It was pretty beat up, but I got a great deal on it (a little over the cost of the bag). I got it in the tank then went off to take care of some work, I didn't get a chance to really inspect it until that night. I finally got to take a closer look at it and noticed that it was a little more beat up than I had though, in fact a small crab had managed to eat out one of the heads and turn it into his own little home.

Said crab was promptly removed after seeing his little pinchers go to work on the next closest head. I started target feeding it two nights after getting it to help with the recovery. It didn't eat the first two nights, but i did see some streamers the second night. The third night i watched it wolf down 4 or 5 mysis shrimp. So now i've been target feeding it every other night, is that too often? Can I ramp it up to every night without ill effects, or should I keep to every other night or even less often than that?

I think every other night is plenty. It will give it a chance to digest the food and expel the waste.

I have a couple, and they do seem to be sensitive to getting knocked around. One of mine fell face first in the sand some time while I was at work, and all the coralites that were buried died from only a few hours in the sand.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep it to every other day and see how things go. Did yours recover fully, or do they always have a bare spot when some dies?

Mine still has the bare spot :( It was on one side of it, so at least I can turn that side so I don't see it. It doesn't seem to grow back over the old skeleton very well.
