i've alway wanted one (lion fish) in my tank and so i've been wondering if you could put a lion fish into a reeftank with sps/lps ??? anyone with experiance or thoughts or comments please let me know thanks.

why not, I had one in mines years ago! But they will eat your shrimps and smaller fish and inverts, they also eat a lot so NITRATE....! I got stung also so becareful.

peace

as mentioned above, they WILL eat any fish and/or invertebrates that they can fit in their mouths (and just because it won't fit doesn't mean they won't try). I had one once, and it was a relentless hunter/stalker, and it also tried to spike me with it's spines every time I put my hands in my tank. so, be careful.

ooo man that doesn't sound good... since my kids like to stick thier hands in when they are helping me out with water changes... i guess this will be a no fly zone for lion fishes for me. thanks for hte input warren and shiveley.

My kids get a kick out of being my spotters so I don't get stung by the rabbitfish at feeding and maintenance times.

Yeah that sting is nothing to fool around with. I have heard it can be quite painful - and with little ones, definitely not worth it IMO.

For the record: My kids are old enough to realize the danger and show me the youtube videos. Safety officers...
