question about GFO and PH reading...

I recently added the single BRS GFO reactor to my system, I slowly introduced it to my tank, didnt want to stunt any of my coral just incase..so i adjussted it with the ball valve..So my question is, when I first started the GFO, My PH shot up from a constant 8.1-8.2 to a 8.5-8.77..whats the cause of this..I usually depend on my PH readings on my ACjr. to dose my two part..but because of this I'm not dosing at the moment..Can anyone tell me what the soloution is or whats causing this..I have never used any type of reactor on my system... thanks in advance..

I also run GFO. I am not sure that high Ph can be directly attributed to GFO but I could be wrong. Did you recalibrate your probe to verify your results? I normally run 8.2 to 8.3 and had jumed to 8.5. After calibration I was back to normal.
