Question about in-wall tanks with steel stands

This is kind of hard to put my question into words, but here it goes...

I am currently planning an in-wall tank. I want the tank to be up against the drywall on the front (viewable) side, but I am unsure how to accomplish this. When the tank is sitting on the stand, there will be a gap between the tank and the drywall from the studs in the wall. Since I will be using a steel stand, the only options i could think of would be to have the tank slightly hang over the stand and rest on the 2x4 frame in the wall, or have the stand built with a lip that is the width of the wall. Would either of these work, or is there something else easier or more practical? If this doesn't make any sense, I can try to draw up some pictures to show what I am talking about.

The only thing you may want to consider about directly attaching the drywall to the steel stand is that there is no soundproofing and maybe could transmit the vibration through the wall.

I built my stand with a lip on it. I needed the tank to be flush with the wall. Our space was about 1/2 narrower than the 36 inch tank but it worked out good in the end. It worked out great.
